Schedule of Events in the Old Kippenheim Synagogue

 Spring, Summer and Autumn  2010

Open Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5 p.m. from March 1st through October 31st .

Directions: take state road (Bundesstrasse) 3 to Kippenheim. At the old fountain in the center of town turn off into the Poststrasse, going toward Schmieheim. The synagogue is located on the left, about 80 meters/yards from the turn-off, set back somewhat from the street. Parking is available along the Poststrasse as well as in parking lots at the festival hall and behind the “Hufeisen” tavern.

Books out of the Fire

Readings from authors whose books were burned and forbidden by the Nazis in May 1933, music by Tobias Kopf, double bass. Free admission, donations welcome.

 

Sunday, June 13th, 2010, at 11 a.m.

Opening of the exhibition entitled Recycling – Installations and Objects by Liliane Csuka with an introduction by Ilse Teipelke. The exhibition runs until July 11th. Open Sundays 2 to 5 p.m. Free admission, donations  welcome.

From the Stedtl to Jerusalem

A musical tale by Simone Carole Levy. Concert by the Duo Cantilena. Admission 12€ / 10€

 

Friday, July 16th, 2010, at 5 p.m.

Opening of the exhibition entitled Volunteer Peace  Service  in Israel and Palestine by the Protestant State Church of Baden. With information for young adults interested in serving. Exhibition runs until August 28th. Open Sundays 2 to 5 p.m. Free admission, donations welcome.

Guided tour through the Jewish cemetery in Schmieheim. Please sign up by July 23rd! Participants limited.

Charity Concert 

“Forced into Exile”, works by Hans Gál, Ingolf Dahl and Alfred Schnittke performed by Lisa Klevit-Ziegler, clarinet, Anke-Bettina Melik, violin, and Andrej Melik, cello. Free admission, all donations go to the upkeep of the Old Kippenheim Synagogue
